<image:title>About - Who We Are</image:title>
<image:caption>We’re two people who are originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who care about our planet and want to motivate people like us to live sustainably and develop an environmentally conscious mindset. Now living on both coasts of the U.S., we are passionate about spreading the word to motivate positive change in our generation. Climate change is the largest issue of our time, and we must unite to combat this global problem before it is too late. If each individual commits to making one or two minor changes in their lives we can better our Earth and work to preserve its natural beauty for future generations. Just one person impacted by our platform is a step towards environmental justice and positive change for our planet. Just remember that you CAN make a difference! - Gabby & Kendall</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Why ‘The New Wave’</image:title>
<image:caption>It all started with our passion for ocean advocacy. Our original goal was to inspire kids our age to help keep our oceans and marine life safe, but we soon realized that the root of all environmental concerns, including deteriorating marine ecosystems, stem from climate change and unsustainable human practices. Through this platform we hope to provoke change in the younger generation, for we are to inherit this Earth and therefore must work together to keep it clean and suitable for all forms of life. We are all apart of the new wave of environmental advocates, and must rise to the challenge of initiating change and healing our planet. And so, The New Wave was born.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - It’s Time To Act</image:title>
<image:caption>Our mission is to educate and inspire teenagers like us to live sustainably and become more environmentally conscious. We want to provide as much information as possible to help the new wave of environmental advocates join in the fight against climate change.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - What Can We Do?</image:title>
<image:caption>Saving the environment begins with us, and life as we know it will forever change if we don’t take action now. Sea levels are rising, ecosystems are deteriorating, and climate patterns are becoming increasingly unpredictable. The most important thing we can do to join in the fight against global warming is to get politically active and vote for bold climate action. For those unable to vote or join youth-led movements, educate yourself and take control of your daily energy usage. Even more importantly, be an example to others and raise awareness on an individual level. <image:title>Sunscreen - Sand Cloud Sunscreen</image:title>
<image:caption>Reef safe sunscreen from Sand Cloud is made from organic ingredients and natural minerals. All oils are cold pressed and the tins are food grade safe, BPA free, and made from recyclable material. According to the National Park Service, 4,000 to 6,000 TONS of sunscreen enters reef areas annually. The chemicals in name-brand sunscreen products contribute to coral bleaching and cause reproductive issues in marine life. Sand Cloud sunscreen protects coral reef ecosystems, marine life, and your skin! The best part is that a portion of the proceeds is donated towards marine life conservation efforts! Sand Cloud sunscreen offers 35 SPF protection and has a highly concentrated formula, so you’re essentially getting twice the usage for half the size! <image:caption>All of Sun Bum’s products are oxybenzone and octinoxate free, which are the primary toxins in sunscreen that contribute to coral bleaching. Sun Bum products are vegan, and they are also gluten, sulfate, paraben, and cruelty-free. Recently, Sun Bum has also released a mineral-based sunscreen line that is reef-friendly and more environmentally conscious. They care about the planet just as much as they care about your skin. Their sun care, hair care, and lip care collections are made with wholesome ingredients derived from the Earth, and they are working towards complete veganism. They are 100% vegetarian, reef safe, and none of their products contain microbeads—a common exfoliator used in scrubs. Microbeads often wash down the drain and end up polluting waterways. By using natural exfoliators, Alba Botanica helps to combat this issue. Their sunscreen is also oxybenzone free! Click on the photo to visit their website!</image:caption>

Not only do they fund successful campaigns to help combat climate change (which all can be found on their website), but they also have a store where they sell shirts, towels, stickers, and our personal favorite, a zero waste foodware kit, in which all proceeds go to fund their mission for cleaner and more accessible beaches and oceans. <image:caption>4Ocean allows its consumers to join in the clean ocean movement by pulling a pound of plastic from the ocean for every bracelet purchased! They also sell single-use plastic alternatives such as drinkware, reusable shopping bags, metal straws, and they even have an eco-friendly clothing line. Their mission is to put an end to the ocean plastic crisis, and since 2017 they have recovered over 9,000,000 pounds of plastic from the ocean and coastline! They also have a Pound + Program which allows you to directly fund how many pounds of ocean plastics you would like to have removed. <image:caption>Vitamin A, a swimwear brand created by Amahlia Stevens, works to reduce the environmental impact of swimwear. All bikinis and swimwear are made using their EcoLux fabric—a fabric made from recycled nylon. Vitamin A also uses waterless digital printing technology and incorporates materials like recycled cotton, linen, and even a polyester fiber made from recycled plastic bottles into their swimwear. Alongside each of their suits they have a sustainability report that tracks how many resources were saved. For example, the production of the bathing suit above saved 1.6 ounces of waste, 0.8 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, and 1.2 kWh of energy.
