Billabong

Founded in 1973, Billabong is a swimwear and eco clothing brand. In January of 2020 they released their Surf Capsule Collection—a swimwear line that includes wetsuits made from up-cycled car tires, plastic bottles, and recycled spandex. Billabong’s Black Onyx Swim Collection uses their Recycler neoprene to create trendy designs at less of an environmental impact. Click on the photo to check them out!

Vitamin A

Vitamin A, a swimwear brand created by Amahlia Stevens, works to reduce the environmental impact of swimwear. All bikinis and swimwear are made using their EcoLux fabric—a fabric made from recycled nylon. Vitamin A also uses waterless digital printing technology and incorporates materials like recycled cotton, linen, and even a polyester fiber made from recycled plastic bottles into their swimwear. Alongside each of their suits they have a sustainability report that tracks how many resources were saved. For example, the production of the bathing suit above saved 1.6 ounces of waste, 0.8 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, and 1.2 kWh of energy. A portion of their proceeds also goes towards environmental groups and organizations. Click on the photo to learn more about them!

RVCA

Founded in 1999, RVCA is a swimwear brand that has recently introduced sustainable swimwear to its collection. Billabong purchased RVCA in 2010, so the recent shift towards more environmentally-friendly practices are used in production of the swimwear for both brands. Their products feature trendy patterns on well constructed articles of clothing. Click on the photo to visit the RVCA website!
